July 17th, 2004 6:30 p.m.
We are having the ceremony on the summit of Mt. Tabor in SE Portland, OR, SE 60th and Salmon. Here's a map of the park.
Mt. Tabor is an extinct volcano, which we find strangely symbolic. It's also a public park, so please:
Dress for a short hike in comfortable clothing and sensible shoes, in summer weather (average temp: 82 degrees)
Bring nothing that you can't pack out with you
Limit decorations to flowers in your hair and the smile on your face
We will have a permit for one vehicle to drive people to the top, so we can ferry rounds of folks as needed. We are permitted four chairs; you may wish to bring a blanket or ground cover, but the ceremony will not be terribly long.
July 17th, 2004 7:30-ish p.m.
We are pleased to hold the reception at the John Palmer House, 4314 N. Mississippi in Portland, OR. This beautiful Victorian house offers air conditioning inside if needed and an outdoor deck and gardens to enjoy the summer night. Thanks to our parents for providing a quality beer and wine bar and great food. Again, please dress comfortably, as it can stay warm late, but you may want to bring a light jacket. Smoking will be limited to outside the house, please.
One of our dispatchers, Jay, has graciously agreed to taxi people home if needed. If you plan on imbibing, please make arrangements to either get a ride with us to the reception or to get back to your car the next day.
When we get enough RSVPs, we will try to reserve a block of rooms at a discounted rate, most likely at The Benson, as it's right downtown in the heart of Portland's fun and close to the reception site. However, we're also listing some that are closer to our house, though we really don't recommend booking there--it's a bit of a drive to the wedding and reception sites, and also to D-Dish HQ. And we're never home anyway.
